Furnace Replacement

Serving Neighborhoods Surrounding Langhorne, King of Prussia, Doylestown & Marlton for 49 Years.

When installing a furnace unit, the first thing we to take in to account is its placement. Not only for functionality, but so that it is not a disturbance in the home.

  • If the unit is to be located in the basement, it should be supported by blocks at least four inches above the floor in case of a flood to keep away from water damage.
  • If the unit is to be located in the attic, some precautions need to be taken. The unit should be equipped with a secondary drain pan; this pan will be placed under the unit to prevent damage to the home in case of blockage of the air conditioner condensate drain. We make sure to put good thought into where the unit is to be placed in the attic taking into access for maintenance and to minimize noise to bedrooms and throughout the house.
  • Something that is important to note is that when you have furnace replacement, condensing furnaces should not be installed in an attic or in climates that can drop below freezing.

We figure out the best side of the unit to have the condensate drain exit from. We will be sure to set up the unit so that it slopes slightly towards the condensate drain exit.

After securing the unit in place and getting the condensate drain in place, we will continue with the furnace installation by connecting the duct system. We always use metal foil or duct sealant because duct tape will fall apart over time and need repairs.

The next step is for us to connect the vent pipes. We make sure to properly clean and glue the PVC joints to ensure that the connection stays. Once again, we will make sure to keep in mind the condensation and make sure that the pipes slope towards the condensate drain.

Next in the procedure is to connect the gas supply to the unit. We will be sure to place a shut off valve outside the unit. The gas piping will be inspected to make sure that there are no leaks. After making sure that the gas is connected securely we will make the electrical connections, making sure to take attention to the polarity, and then connecting the low voltage lines from the units control board to the thermostat.

To ensure that all has been done affectively, we will turn on the unit and have it go through a heating cycle, checking the outlet air temperature and the temperature rise from the return to supply and make sure they comply with the manufacturers recommendations. We will also check the condensate drainage one last time to ensure that the gas connects are tight and not leaking.
